Sustainability Policy

ince its opening in 2020, Bangnu Greenery Hotel in Phang Nga has been renowned for its eco-friendly atmosphere, exceptional service, timeless elegance, and the spirit of nature. Offering 12 private rooms (and more to come), a luxurious spa with an outdoor pool, fine dining restaurants and cafes, and banquet facilities for up to 80 guests, the hotel provides an unparalleled experience in the Phang Nga mountains of Thailand.

As a member of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, we are committed to providing the highest quality, excellent service, and a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, along with the unique natural environment of the local Bang Nu village, in a sustainable manner.

As one of the most iconic hotels in the Green Mountains, we recognize our responsibility to protect the natural and cultural heritage that surrounds us, not only for our current guests and staff but also for future generations. Our sustainability vision is rooted in warm and friendly hospitality. 


OUR SUSTAINABILITY VISION

For us, hotel sustainability means building strong relationships with customers, fostering goodwill, providing assistance wherever possible, and adapting and developing hotel solutions that focus on preserving the community, society, environment, and economy. This aligns with a sustainable green hotel policy, continuously improving service efficiency and food quality, and participating in EarthCheck, a leading global certification and benchmarking program for sustainable tourism. Our progress is regularly monitored through annual audits and benchmarking.


OUR SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Our sustainability strategy is based on the following key principles:


Economic Sustainability

Long-term success is based on a balance between economic growth and responsible business practices. Our approach includes:

  • Efficient, sustainable business operations to maintain our competitiveness.
  • Financial independence and responsibility towards our employees, guests, and partners.
  • Investments in innovative technologies to reduce our environmental impact.
  • Ethical business practices, transparent communication, and compliance as the foundation for sustainable business management.
  • A commitment to responsible sourcing and fair-trade principles. These include: (1) opportunities for economically marginalized producers, (2) transparency & accountability, (3) fair trade practices, (4) fair payment, (5) no child labour, no forced labour, (6) no discrimination, gender equity, freedom of association, (7) good working conditions, (8) capacity building, (9) promote fair trade, (10) climate action and protection of the environment.


ENVIRONMENTAL Sustainability

We are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and preserving the pristine nature of the Phu Nga Mount. Our measures include:

  • Minimizing waste, increasing recycling, and avoiding single-use plastics through sustainable alternatives.
  • Utilizing our innovative heating system, which harnesses electricity from solar power, for  sustainable heating and cooling.
  • Implementing advanced energy-saving technologies such as LED lighting, smart thermostats, and motion sensors.
  • Reducing water consumption through efficient fixtures and employee training.


SOCIAL Sustainability

Our employees, guests, suppliers, and the local community are at the center of our sustainability strategy. Our commitments include:

  • Compliance with the Thai labour law, creating fair working conditions and a diverse, inclusive corporate culture. Whenever the hotel’s seasonal business model allows, local employment is given special consideration.
  • Investments in training and development programs, especially in sustainability and ethical business practices.
  • Implementing an employee wellbeing program with health initiatives and work-life balance measures.
  • Empowering employees to take part in sustainability initiatives and fostering cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Including sustainability-related goals in performance evaluations where relevant.
  • Partnering with local NGOs to support social and environmental projects through the Ban Bangnu Foundation.
  • Supporting education and apprenticeships in hospitality and sustainability.
  • Engaging with tourism associations, local government, and regional networks to promote shared sustainability goals.
  • Maintaining high-quality employee facilities, including staff housing, the employee restaurant, and a range of benefits that support staff wellbeing and retention.
  • Support and consideration for local trade partners. Whenever feasible, the hotel prioritizes collaborations with local suppliers and the procurement of local products.


GUEST ENGAGEMENT

We believe that meaningful sustainability is a shared journey. We encourage our guests to participate through optional towel and linen reuse programs, curated local experience recommendations, and transparent communication about our efforts. Thoughtful touches throughout the hotel highlight our initiatives, offering guests the choice to travel more consciously without compromising on comfort or experience. Guests also have the opportunity to contribute to The Ban Bangnu Foundation, whose proceeds are allocated to regional charity projects that support the local community and environment.

To measure our sustainability performance, we focus on the following indicators:

  • Energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction
  • Water resource management
  • Waste management and recycling rates
  • Sustainable procurement and supply chain management
  • Employee diversity, satisfaction and retention scores
  • Guest satisfaction and retention scores
  • Quality assessments from partner associations


SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND EARTHCHECK

We recognize the impact of our business operations on the environment and society and have therefore established a comprehensive sustainability management system. In collaboration with EarthCheck, we follow international best practices and have our progress regularly audited and reported. Within our company, an EarthCheck Coordinator has been appointed to work with our Green Team to coordinate internal processes and foster an open dialogue between departments. Sustainability progress is reviewed bi-annually by senior management and integrated into strategic planning processes. Results are shared with employees and, where appropriate, external partners.

We regularly review our practices, benchmark against global standards, and adapt to new insights, technologies, and expectations. Through annual benchmarking, we continuously measure, analyze, and optimize our sustainability performance. With our commitment, we aim to make a positive contribution and establish lasting environmentally and socially responsible standards in our operations.
